My favorites for insomnia are Master Kush and Purple Urkel.  If I'm really having trouble sleeping, best thing for me to do is not smoke any MMJ all day at all until right before bed.  It hits me hard enough to put me to sleep then - usually.  Any really strong strain works well, but last night I tried it with OG Kush, and it took hours to get to sleep - though I was plenty medicated.  OG Kush usually works for me - though it isn't my favorite insomnia strain by a long shot, but serious insomnia is occasionally beyond any MMJ I know of, at least for me.  MMJ seems to work better the less I actually use it - kind of like sleeping pills.  Anyway, try smoking just before bed, if you can- if you aren't sick or in pain of some kind.  That's the best way to use MMJ for insomnia, IMO.  It'll hit you harder, and put you to sleep.

some mars og that will do
I'm sick of dour faces
Staring at me from the TV
Tower, I want roses in
My garden bower dig?
Royal babies, rubies
Must now replace aborted
Strangers in the mud
These mutants, blood-meal
For the plant that's plowed

Insomina is a big issue in my life, and I've found that several strains help me with my insomina, including:

* Purples - GDP, Purple Erckle, Querkle, Purple Kush, Grape Ape. etc

* Bubbas - Original Bubba Kush IMO is the heaviest, but most variations of Bubbas still tend to retain a lot of the "heavy" feeling that comes with Bubba Kush.

* Indica dominant OG's - Always a knock-out. :hippie:

* Kushes - Very rarely can I smoke any form of Kush during the day, and usually keep it only for night time. King Kush is a great example - this strain puts me out like a light, and I can almost certainly expect major couchlock from this strain. Hindu Kush and Afgahni Kush are excellent for insomina as well.

Concentrates are also a way that I occassionally ingest my medicine, and concentrates help me greatly with sleep. IMO, true fullmelt hashes are the absolute best for insomnia. However, most hashes I've been seeing lately have not been true fullmelt, and instead they're poorly made and it's literally just like blowin' smoke. But IMO, there is nothing better for insomnia than a small snap of indica dominant flower with a nice piece of indica dominant hash. Usually only a few snaps and it's lights out! :faint:

MR. NICE which is G13 x Hash Plant.  Two bowls (along with sleeping med)  had me sleeping for 9 hours last night, and I have BAD insomnia.  That kind of sleep is very rare for me.
PS: Eat a very nice meal at dinner.  I've found a full dinner a few hours before bedtime works wonders for sleep.  Watch the sweets, though.

I also suffer from Insomnia. I am a huge cannabis conniseur and I am a member a over 40 clubs in Los Angeles and the valley, and even malibu.

The best strains to smoke for sleeping are (Indicas obviously)

Master P (So Cal Co-Op)
Herojuana OG (many clubs carry this)
OG Kush (many clubs carry this)
Sour OG (So cal co-op, Gourmet Green Room, many clubs)

Certain Kush's:
Bubba Kush (many clubs carry this)
Hindu Kush
Woody Kush

Any strong OG or Kush will do

A strong hash is also good
OG Sour hash

I medicate with an Indica kief or hash, which usually knocks me out quick, eh!

sorry to hear youre not feeling well. I too use MM for pain management. I must agree with the above and say that edibles are a great addition. I have found that indicas work for pain and some sativas are good for sleep. I would suggest having a nice edible ( not sugared if poss) and then a few hits of a nice sativa( Bullrider mabey) This should help nad if it doesnt you should at least feel better. much love ti you

Out of curiousity, what would be the opposite?  What meds are ones to avoid if you want to get to sleep?  I tried one square of an edible chocolate the other day and it kept me awake the whole night and I was high as a kite the next day.  Totally not the effect I was going for!
